Bread worth
getting up for.

A tiny neighborhood bakery where the dough rises overnight, the butter is real, and there's always an extra cinnamon roll for whoever needs one.

Our story

It started with one very stubborn starter.

In 2016 we were two friends with a home oven, a jar of sourdough starter named Doug, and a bad habit of baking far more than two people could eat. So we gave it away — to neighbors, to the mail carrier, to whoever was walking past on a Sunday morning.

People kept coming back. Eventually somebody suggested we charge for it, which felt a bit rude, but here we are: a corner shop with mismatched chairs, a chalkboard that's never quite up to date, and the same jar of Doug on the shelf.

We still bake the way we did in that first kitchen — slowly, in small batches, with butter that costs too much. If you're new here, say hello. We'll probably hand you something to try.

Say hello

Order ahead, or just ask us something.

Big order for the office? Birthday cake? Wondering whether the focaccia is vegan (it is)? Send us a note and we'll write back — usually the same afternoon, always by the next morning.

Pre-orders need 48 hours' notice. Whole cakes need a week and a rough idea of how much frosting you consider reasonable.

We read every message ourselves. No robots, just flour-covered humans.
